My personal caveat of fashion applies to design, style is forever, trends but for moment. <br /><br />Personal rules of thumb, if you are not a ID, but are designing your own space: 1-only ask for product information from vendors, not for design information (why: hint they have a vested interest in getting you to buy) 2- Don't be in a rush, design over a season, in small chunks. Gives you time to change your mind once starting (why, because 95% of the time once project gets started, you will find a new resource or inspiration that could change your direction because now your are "involved" physically.) This prevents wasting budget.<br />3. Copy design of the best, yep it's okay if you aren't a pro yourself. (Why? because you most likely will not be stealing business from them- if you are doing it yourself because you can't afford to hire a designer. Pros ignore this, it is theft.) Just remember to include personal items to bring out your personality in your surroundings.
